A permanent home for grassroots citizen action in the West
"The Northern Plains Resource Council and the Western Organization of Resource Councils are developing an exciting and innovative project here in Billings. Their new headquarters will be an attractive and welcome addition to the entry corridor of our city." -Former Billings Mayor Chuck Tooley
The City's Front Door Is Getting a Fresh Look
For nearly 35 years, Northern Plains Resource Council has helped Montana citizens find the right balance between the environment and economic growth. Northern Plains holds that stewardship of Montana's land and water is vital to our state's future. Northern Plains and similar groups in neighboring states formed the Western Organization of Resource Councils (WORC) in 1979.
Over time, our programs and staffs have expanded to meet new challenges and opportunities. Northern Plains and WORC have outgrown our office space and purchased an old grocery store in Billings' underdeveloped south side neighborhood. We plan to renovate this building into a model of energy efficiency, passive solar design, and recycled building materials.
