2005 Montana Legislature

Preventing rollbacks of clean water and air laws and claiming victory on country of origin labeling, closing loopholes in the small miner law, and advancing a study of coal bed methane laws.

The 2005 Legislature, which adjourned in late April, was notable for the extent to which it differed from the sessions that preceded it. In contrast to sessions past, when lawmakers passed bill after bill crippling our state's ability to protect citizens damages to the air we breathe, water we drink, and communities where we live, the 2005 session saw progress on policies that keep our state a great place to live, work, and raise a family – with no major steps backward.
