Northern Plains Riders are special financial contributors to Northern Plains Resource Council, giving from $70 to over $5000 a year. Give as much as you like - the Big Sky is the limit!

One day, coal company executives paid a "friendly" visit to one of our founders - Boyd Charter - on his ranch. The executives saw how much money their company could make from the rich reserves under Boyd's land - but Charter saw things differently. The executives asked Boyd again and again to put a price on his ranch; they finally just handed Boyd a blank check. With a ticket to wealth within his grasp, Boyd chose the ranch. "Boys," he told the coal representatives, "you will always be $4.60 short of the price of my land." Then, as now, some things cannot be bought. These are the principles Northern Plains protects.

In this spirit, Northern Plains was born: where some things of value cannot be bought. These are the principles Northern Plains protects. Northern Plains has been grassroots organizing in Montana for more than thirty years. To support this work, become a Northern Plains Rider:

RANGE RIDER, $70 to $99

Help keep Northern Plains out in the forefront on a range of issues: family agriculture, hard rock and coal mining, air and water quality and livestock issues.

ROUGH RIDER, $100 to $199

Play a vital role in making Northern Plains financially tough, so we can tackle a myriad of issues and ride out any storm.

BOTTOM-LINE RIDER, $200 to $499

Northern Plains Bottom-Line Riders have been historically a crucial component of our success. The represent the cowboys of the past who rode the fence-line, watching the horizon to protect the homefront. BLRs receive a sterling silver pin with Northern Plains' historic buffalo skull emblem.

RIDERS OF THE BIG SKY, $500+

To many of us, Montana's big sky reflects the beauty and inspiring space that draws us to this land. Northern Plains' large donors offer us the same inspiration with their generous commitment to Montana's beauty and with their support of one of the state's most committed grassroots organizations: Northern Plains Resource Council.
